Detectives investigating a “distraction burglary” where a parent was duped by men posing as maintenance workers have released CCTV images of their suspects.
Police were called at lunchtime on 20th September to the home on Westwood Road to find that £8,000 worth of jewellery had been stolen, including gold rings and bracelets.
“Two men called at the address on the same day pretending to be maintenance workers from a water company carrying out routine checks,” said police.
“The victim was home with her young child, who answered the door and the men entered. One of the men distracted the victim by pretending to check her kitchen pipes before two other men arrived at the address.
“The two men entered the house and began searching through the living room and bedrooms. They stole four gold rings, eight gold bracelets, two sets of earrings and a watch, as well as £280 in cash.”
It is believed all of the suspects arrived in a BMW 1 Series car and then left the scene in the direction of Percy Road in the same car.
