Police in Camden are searching for witnesses after an elderly woman was robbed in Camden and left critically ill in hospital.
Stella Magarshick, 87, collapsed at her home on Albert Street in Camden just after 8pm this Tuesday.
“London Ambulance Service attended and took the victim to a north London hospital. Her condition is described as critical,” police said.
“At this early stage it is understood Ms Magarshick was returning home from grocery shopping nearby when she was followed into the communal lobby of her block of flats by an unknown man.
“She asked the man who he was there to see. The man did not reply but snatched her bag and fled the scene. It is not known which direction he fled.
“Ms Magarshick entered her flat and told a relative that she lives with what happened. The relative left the room to call police. When she returned, Stella was found collapsed.”
The suspect has been described as a tall black male.
Detective Inspector Adam Ghaboos, from Camden CID, added: “This was a nasty robbery on a lifelong resident of Camden. Following falling victim to this crime Ms Magarshick is now fighting for her life. Our thoughts are with her, and her family and friends, during this difficult time.
“We are determined to find the person responsible for the robbery and we would urge any witnesses or anyone with information to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”
