A former scout leader from Orpington has been jailed after child sex offences

A man who abused boys in the 1970s while working as a scout leader has been jailed for 13 years.

Terry Figg, 68 and now of Stevenage, was sentenced yesterday at Croydon Crown Court for 11 offences of indecent assault on children under the age of 14.

All the offences occurred between 1970 and 1980, police said. Figg was originally from Orpington, and he met his victims through the scouts.

He was not arrested until 2015.

Detective Sergeant Samantha Townsend, from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, said: “Figg is a dangerous sexual predator who abused his position of trust to prey on young vulnerable children.

“I would like to commend the victims for their courage in coming forward and helping us to get Figg convicted.”
