Body found in search for Polish woman Irena, missing for over a week

Police have found a body in their search for missing Polish woman Irena Wawszczak.

62-year-old Irena was last seen near Mill Hill in London 11 days ago when she got off a coach and did not return. She had been visiting her son who lives in Northampton.

The body was found at a nature reserve in Barnet yesterday.

“Formal identification of the body is yet to take place but Mrs Wawszczak’s family have been informed of the development,” cops said.

“A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.”

However, the identity of the woman has not been confirmed. In a Facebook post, a relative said: “So we went yesterday…I just don’t know if it’s mom”.
