Catnip Festival 2016 will be the first cat-themed festival ever

Catnip Festival 2016 will be the first cat-themed festival ever – and it’s coming to London.

In November, this festival will bring a cat gym, cat DJ sets, cat cabaret – and all in the name of bringing people “joy”.

The event is run by Third Mind Productions, which is a company that specialises in quirky events.

James Elphick, creative director, came up with the idea when he was communicating with his friend, who moved abroad, using cat videos to express their thoughts.

“We soon discovered we both had a passion for cat videos, and before long it seemed that each of us had a repertoire of videos to describe every situation,” he explained.

“It became like currency, and we thought it was time we spread the wealth.

“We would like people to have an evening of indulgence in a simple, clean, vice that has no ill effects.

“It’s silly and fun and long overdue at a time when many are letting the world get them down.

“It was clearly time for something like this to happen.”

Tickets cost £16.95 at www.nip.cat
