“Here lies Southern Rail”: beleaguered commuters set up tongue-in-cheek fake shrine

This is the scene outside Victoria station this morning, where embattled commuters have set up fake shrines to protest against continued delays to Southern Rail services.

The messages, which are surrounded by bunches of flowers, include: “RIP. Here lies my patience, my work-life-balance, and any sanity I have left!”

Another message at the fake shrine, underneath the “Little Ben” clock tower at the end of Victoria Street, reads: “GONE AND BEST FORGOTTEN”.

The emergence of the stunt comes as the company pledged to be running a full service.

However, the pledge has clearly not impressed all commuters.
