Hornchurch explosion: residents evacuated from flats, firefighters at scene

Residents of a block of flats in Hornchurch have been evacuated this evening following reports of an explosion.

It is understood 65 firefighters are at the scene on Ardleigh Green Road, near Havering College. They arrived around 5pm.

Specialist firefighters are at the scene along with the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service.

The A127 is closed both ways – please avoid the area.
