How would you feel about London becoming car-free at certain points in the week?
That’s one of the proposals being considered by Sadiq Khan as part of the Mayor’s drive to make London as environmentally friendly as possible.
The move comes after Paris decided to make the Champs Élysées – one of the city’s main streets and the home of the president’s house – car-free at certain times of the month.
A spokesperson for Khan told the Evening Standard: “The Mayor is looking into a range of dynamic proposals on improving public spaces including traffic free days and plans for the pedestrianisation of Oxford Street.
“He is overseeing hard-hitting new measures to tackle London’s polluted air and is supportive of events like car-free days that both lower toxic car fumes and encourage pedestrians to get out and enjoy their streets more,” he added.
