Moorgate Tube station evacuated due to “suspicious package”

Shortly after 2pm today Moorgate station was evacuated and six police vehicles raced in to deal with the discovery of a “suspicious package”.

Louis Goddard tweeted: “Moorgate tube station evacuated. “Due to a reported emergency will all passengers leave the station immediately.”

According to witnesses it was found on the Northern Line, and the service has now been suspended between Kennington and Camden Town.

This comes just a day after a man was arrested due to a suspicious package was found on the Jubilee line.

It has been claimed that it was an unattended rucksack, but the British Transport Police only reported:

“Item found at #Moorgate station has been looked at by officers and is not suspicious. Thank you to everyone for their patience.”

A sniffer dog was brought to the scene.
