Muswell Hill chaos: buses on diversion, homes underwater

Parts of Muswell Hill are still underwater today after a burst water main caused chaos on the streets.

It’s believed nearly 10 houses on Muswell Hill Road have been flooded, and there’ll still traffic restrictions in place.

Muswell Hill Road is closed in both directions between the Woodland Rise junction and Highgate station, and buses 43 and 134 are on diversion.

“It looked like a river,” Clapham resident Amy Clayton – who was visiting her parents – told the Evening Standard.

“My dog was at the window barking. It was like you couldn’t see out the window for water,” she added.

A Thames Water spokesperson said in a statement: “We’re really sorry for the flooding and will do all we can to support anyone whose property has been affected.

“Our engineers are working to stop the water flowing from the pipe and a team is on the way to Muswell Hill Road to repair it.”
