Rio Games star Ashley Jackson visits Hillingdon school students

It’s been a great week for young people’s sport in London – not only did Justin Bieber turn up a Highgate school, but students in Hillingdon also got to meet Team GB Olympic medallist Ashley Jackson.

Hockey player Jackson, who has just got back from the Rio Games, fielded all kinds of questions from 150 young people from across Greater London.

He also gave a demo of his tackling skills to some of the kids, much to their delight. It was all part of a successful hockey festival for school students.

Paul Osborn, chairman of the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, told journalist Bhvishya Patel: “It’s great to see so many young people keen to play this fast-paced sport.

“The Hockey Schools Festival is a terrific success with young people inspired and fired up by Team GB women’s team winning gold at Rio 2016.

“We offer young people an opportunity to play on the same pitch where top players like Ashley Jackson compete in major international tournaments such as this year’s Champions’ Trophy,” he added.
