Sadiq hits out after THREE floods hit London in a week

London Mayor Sadiq Khan says Londoners will want Thames Water to “up their game” after three floods hit the city in the space of seven days.

Angel, Blackheath and Stoke Newington all suffered flood damage last week.

Basement flats have been underwater, cars have been damaged and extensive roadworks have caused disruption.

And Mayor Sadiq Khan says he wants answers.

“The flooding over the last week has caused huge damage to people’s homes and businesses, and caused chaos on the roads in the areas affected,” he said.

“It’s a devastating thing to happen in the run up to Christmas, and people will quite rightly be furious that it appears lessons are not being learnt from previous incidents.

“It is right that Thames Water have launched a full investigation, and residents and business must now get full compensation, and receive it quickly.

“With three similar incidents in less than a week, Londoners will want answers about how Thames Water are going to up their game and ensure we don’t see a repeat of the last week.”
