Sexual assault near the Strand: police want to speak to this man

Do you recognise this man? Police wish to speak to him in connection with the sexual assault of a woman near the Strand two days after Christmas.

The women was followed along Southampton Street, towards the Strand, at around 5pm on 27 December 2016 when the incident happened.

“She went into shops to try and avoid him, but he continued to follow her after she left. He followed the woman to Mays Court where he cornered her and sexually assaulted her,” police said.

“The woman challenged the man and following a verbal altercation he left the scene, making off in the direction of Trafalgar Square.

“The suspect is described as a white male with a dark complexion, aged in his late 20s, approx 5ft 10inches tall of skinny build with high cheekbones, sunken dark brown eyes, stubble and shaved black hair.

“He wore wooden beads around his neck, a tight-fitting black bomber jacket without a hood, zipped right up, possibly a green and yellow symbol on the left side, dark jeans, and trainers. He spoke with a London accent,” police added.

There have been no arrests.
