Teenager jailed after stabbing man repeatedly on Croydon street

A teenager has been sent to prison for eight years after stabbing a man in Croydon.

Jaidon Gregg, 19, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

His 50-year-old victim had arrived at a South London hospital back in October with stab injuries to his neck, shoulder and temple.

The incident took place in Croydon around Mayo Road and Pawson’s Road, near Selhurst station, and began with Gregg punching the victim unprovoked.

He was later stabbed repeatedly in the street, and Gregg ran away when a member of the public intervened.

Detective Constable Ania Casey, the investigating officer from Croydon CID, said: “This was a vicious unprovoked attack that left the victim with serious injuries.

“I would like to commend the member of public for bravely intervening. Without their actions, the victim’s injuries could have been fatal. I hope Gregg uses his time behind bars to reflect upon his actions.”
