Travelling in London this festive period? Here are the changes you need to watch out for

If you’re travelling in London this festive period, here’s a summary of what you need to know.

Don’t forget, many stations and services will be running smaller-scale transport changes. Check out this page for full information if your planned travel route isn’t listed.

Christmas Day

The Underground, as well as all other rail services like the Overground, National Rail, TfL Rail, and the Docklands Light Railway, will not run.

Trams, riverboat services, buses and the Emirates Air Line are all also off.

Taxis will run, but will cost an extra £4 per journey. The Santander cycle hire scheme will operate as normal.

Boxing Day

The Tube begins at 7.45am today, and will then run a Sunday service. The District line is closed between Gloucester Road and Acton Town, as well as between Richmond and Wimbledon. It is also closed between Edgware Road and Wimbledon and will not run to Kensington (Olympia).

The Circle line is closed between Aldgate and Gloucester Road via Tower Hill. There is no Waterloo & City line, and no Bakerloo line service between Stonebridge Park and Harrow & Wealdstone.

Finally, Piccadilly line trains will call at Turnham Green and Ravenscourt Park, and at Stamford Brook (westbound only).

There is no London Overground service today.

Buses will run today from 6am, mostly on a Sunday service.

Taxis will run, but will cost an extra £4 per journey. The Santander cycle hire scheme will operate as normal.

27th December

The Tube will run as often as on Sundays, but with weekday start and finish times. There will be continuing District, Circle and Piccadilly line changes. Buses will run on a Saturday or Sunday service, and night buses on a normal Tuesday service.

The Overground will run a Saturday frequency service, but will not run between Romford and Upminster.
