Jane Austen £5 notes worth £50k have been found

The note, engraved with a miniature picture of Jane Austen, the English novelist is worth tens of thousands of pounds.

Four of the notes were found in a Christmas card in the Scottish borders – this comes just 2 weeks after the first was found in a cafe in south Wales.

The notes are engraved with a 5mm portrait of Austen on the transparent part of the new plastic £5 notes to mark the 200th anniversary of her death next year.

Anyone who finds one of the notes has been advised to contact the Tony Huggins-Haig Gallery.
