Wood Green man sent to prison over firearms offences

A man from Wood Green has been sent to prison for seven years for a series of firearms-related offences.

Sultan Meer, 29 years old and from the Roundway, was sentenced at the Old Bailey after he was found guilty back in April.

Although he claimed he was an antique gun collector, police did not believe him and said they thought he intended for the guns to be used.

Police also said they thought Meer had sold a gun.

“We strongly believe that Meer had sold a gun on also intended to sell others,” said Detective Chief Supt Alexis Boon, of the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command.

“He had certainly looked into obtaining the ammunition so that the guns were ready to use. They were in full working order and so, in the wrong hands, could have been lethal,” he added.
